Kinmen county will hold the event of centennial national anniversary peace pray day at Guningtou Peace Memorial Zone on August 23rd this year. In addition initial peace belling ceremony, two Nobel Peace Prize winners will be invited to attend this event. For promoting the awareness and popularity of this event, it is planned to invite all bells in Taiwan to make peace bell clicking simultaneous simultaneously on August 23rd..
For the centennial national foundation celebration and peace pray day, the county government invited all relevant departments and official executives to convene mission execution coordination meeting. This meeting started from 10:30 yesterday in the first meeting hall of county government, including the meeting host, newly-inaugurated vice mayor Wu, county government chief secretary, and meeting representatives of Cultural Development council and Centennial National Foundation.
Vice county mayor Wu indicated that this content-enrichment and meaningful event will be held in Kinmen. He wishes the awareness for Kinmen can be promoted to the whole world with everybody’s cooperation and efforts and Kinmen tourism and culture can also be benefited.
The event responsibility unit reported that this event will be advertised internationally with a theme of advocacy of pursuit of peace in our nation and the whole world and the propaganda for exploring the value of peace.
For the celebration event “Centennial National Foundation Exuberance” in Kinmen, the preliminary planning proposals include the following:
1. Copper Sculpture Arts Festival (Peace Arts Festival). Event Period: August 1st and August 23rd (the preliminary event celebration awareness and popularity promotion). Event contents: copper sculptures and military devices arts.
2. “Centennial National Foundation Exuberance Peace Pray Evening Party”. Event venue: Juguang Hall or Juguang Park—outdoor night party; Event date: every night between August 19th and August 21st. Event contents: music concert.
3. “Peace for Kinmen Orchestra” for centennial national foundation celebration. Event date: August 22nd and August 23rd (two programs). Concert repertoire: Beethoven: Symphonies No.3 ”Eroica” for expressing homage to the “heroes” making efforts for the peace between the strait by means of the uniqueness of this symphony. Kinmen was ever the most important military sentry location. With the incoming centennial national celebration, the “military sentry location” for Kinmen can not function any longer after the commencement of “Junior 3 Communications Policy”. Hopefully, the people’s peace enthusiasm and respect for the heroes making efforts promoting peace on the two sides across the strait can be fully demonstrated via this concert. With elimination of military post image, Kinmen is expected to be the peace and communication center between the two sides across the strait.
4. Centennial National Foundation Peace Pray Day. Event venue: Guningtou Peace Memorial Zone in Kinmen National Park, Event Date: August 23rd,; Event content: initial peace belling and peace bell clicking
5. Peace Bunker Arts Festival (Peace Arts Festival). Event period: August 23rd and October 25th; Event content: peace arts festival exhibition
6. Peace Wall (Peace Arts Festival). Event period: August until mid October; Event content: exhibiting the peace wall
7. Peace Domino Array (Peace Arts Festival). Event period: the weekends prior to October 25th; Event content: exhibiting steel domino array in the shape of a peace symbolism dove.
County Culture Bureau reminds us that centennial anniversary is coming soon! Having experienced hardness era and beauty time, we can transform whole sadness into beautiful memory and impression and have found the path for fulfilling peace and realizing its value. With this incoming centennial national anniversary, Taiwan will devote to peace propaganda validating the decision for making effort of pursuit of peace. Meanwhile, the military shells in the past are transformed arts. The “peace bell” in consonance with the whole world symbolizes not only the termination of war but also using this peaceful and harmonious bell sound to applaud the peace.
