Planned Construction Completion of Kinmen Bridge in March of Year 2016

It has already held the construction commencement ceremony Kinmen Bridge cross Jinlie watercourse on January 9th, 2011(code: CJ01 for Construction Tender of Lieyu Passage) This bridge will feature “70% for Tourism/30%for Traffic Development”. The construction amendment proposal has already submitted to Executive Yuan for review and approval on May 3rd, 2011 of which the review filing number is 1000021042.
The detailed layout design of this bridge has already been finished. The public tender invitation has already been conducted on May 16th, 2011 according to the Procurement Act. The estimated construction completion date is March of year 2016.

The extradosed-bridge engineering will be used for the construction of Kinmen Bridge. After county resident voting, the sorghum tassel is adopted as the architecture shape for main bridge tower. This sorghum-shaped tower is expected to symbolize “Sorghum Plantation Culture in Kinmen” and demonstrate Kinmen’s most “fragrance” & “mellow” enrichment Kaoliang Liquor. The main bridge spans as long as 280 meters. This will be the longest cross-sea sky extradosed bridge across the strait. The two sides of the main bridge are linked by by PC concrete box girder bridges and embankment approach roads. In compliance with geology, the PC concrete girder box bridges are constructed by cantilever engineering(for bridge lateral). The approach bridges are constructed by ASM(Advanced Shoring Method). The architecture layout include installation of pedestrian and bike passage with green coverage for serving the purpose of beauty and low carbon production and green energy saving. The main bridge is composed of 5 consecutive towered strengthen back bridge span. The construction sophistication and difficulty are both pretty high. There has not yet any similar technologies and engineering experience for building such a new model of bridge. The National New Construction Bureau of MOT has already authorized Taiwan Architecture Structure Engineering Association as the third independent party for conducting structure safety evaluation.

The Review Commissioners include the chiarmain Mr. Sung (Dept. of Civil Engineering of National Taipei Tech Univ.), Expert Fang, W.C.(Railway Reconstruction Bureua of MOT) and Expert Chang, K. C.(National Earthquake Engineering Research Center), Expert Yang. Y. B. (Professor of Yulin Tech Univ.) and Expert Yang, R. Y.(Cha-Chi Engineering Consultancy Agency), Expert Tsai, R. K.(Taiwan Construction Structure Engineer and Technician). The represents from New Construction Bureau of MOT, Kinmen Construction Bureau, and the architecture team, Taiwan H. S. Engineering Consultancy and Taiwan Architecture Structure Engineering Association conducted on-site survey in Lieyu and Fusha village for two days on ay 20th and 21st respectively trying to gain basic reference data for structure security design evaluation.
Kinmen County Construction Bureau indicates that the construction amendment proposal No. 1000021042 have been reviewed and approved by Executive Yuan on May 3rd, 20011. the MOT has notified Public Construction Commission of Executive Yuan to review the project budgets for “Kinmen Bridge Construction Project” for conducting the following procedures, such as budget appropriation, and public construction tender. The Public Construction Commission of Executive Yuan has appointed relevant experts and scholars to establish a review commission. MOF, New Construction Bureau of National High Agency, Kinmen county Construction and design team Taiwan H. S. Engineering Consultancy were all invited hold a review meeting. Many valuable professional advices were submitted in this meeting for reference by relevant institutes.

County Construction Bureau indicates that the Environment Impact Difference Survey Report and mileage length 0K+410~0K+540 within the territory of National Park in Lieyu have been reviewed and approved by Kinmen County Environment Protection Bureau and Kinmen National Park Administration respectively. The detailed layout design of main bridge construction Code: CJ02 has also been finished. The public tender invitation has been conducted on May 16th, 2011 according to the Procurement Act. The estimated construction implementation date is in March of year 2016. This bridge will become a regional indicator landmark and also a major tourism spot for like Kinmen Battle History, Humanity Heritage, South Fujien Tradition, Oversea Kinmen Native Homeland Culture and Ecology Tours. The Taiwan Area National Express Engineering Bureau, County Government’s Branch in Central Government and Kinmen County government’s relevant institute will fully cooperate in fulfillment of Kinmen Bridge Construction for fulfillment the policy of improving living quality of residents in remote islands.
