The results of the 7th Kinmen County Magistrate Election came out yesterday (24th); the incumbent magistrate Chen Fu-Hai lost his re-election campaign by a narrow margin! Chen conceded defeat, saying that whatever the reason is, he had failed to live up to the expectations of many enthusiastic countrymen; but this was not a failure of the County Government team. He also congratulated the elected candidate Yang Jhen-Wu, hoping Yang would live up to the expectations of Kinmen’s people and lead the county administration in a more outstanding direction!
After the announcement of the ballot, Chen Fu-Hai returned to his campaign headquarters to make a speech. He announced, "The magistrate election is over, and we lost! In today's election, Kinmen’s countrymen have made a decision through the ballot for the next four years. Fu-Hai sends congratulations to Mr. Yang Jhen-Wu and his team!"
Chen Fu-Hai stated, "Whatever the reason is for Fu-Hai’s loss in this election, I personally have failed to live up to the expectations of so many enthusiastic compatriots! However, with regard to the infrastructure investment and welfare work over the past four years, I still want to give our County Government team the highest praise. Because of their dedication and hard work, we have been able to build the infrastructure for Kinmen within four years, and these will serve as the foundation for Kinmen’s continued advancement in the future."
Chen said, "Fu-Hai would hereby express congratulation and best wishes to Mr. Yang Jhen-Wu, who was just elected, and hope that he can lead the people of Kinmen and the county administration in a more outstanding direction."
Chen said, "All along, I would like to thank the campaign team, including all working partners for dedicating their hearts and strength, and my family, especially my wife, for always supporting me resolutely to finish this difficult election battle."
He pointed out, "Most importantly, I want to thank all the countrymen who supported me and voted for me. This election has tightly bound us together, and we have all tried our best. Our hearts have been pulled closer and this binding, instead of disappearing, will only leave us more closely connected."
Finally, Chen Fu-Hai said, "The election has ended. Let us restore calm as soon as possible, and continue to work together from different corners and different positions for the advancement of this great island!"
